The Canon EOS 5DS brings massive technological gains to DSLR technology that firmly place this camera among the best on the market. The full-frame 50.6 megapixel CMOS sensor is unlike anything that you have seen before and is ideal for both commercial and fine art photography where large-scale printing is common. The 61-point High Density Reticular AF sensor with 41 cross-type AF points and EOS iTR AF will make sure that all photographs that you take with this camera are as sharp as possible under almost any circumstances. Dual DIGIC 6 Image Processors have also been included to handle the extraordinary amount of information that is delivered by the huge sensor. This configuration enables you to still take advantage of 5 fps continuous shooting speeds without compromising on image quality. The EOS 5DS also enjoys advanced video recording capability that includes HD 1080p capture at 30fps, as well as a time lapse function. The EOS 5DS is truly a revolutionary piece of equipment that can even change how you approach photography.
50.6 Megapixel Full-frame CMOS Sensor
The massive 50.6 megapixel full-frame CMOS sensor that has been stuffed into the body of the EOS 5DS delivers ultra-high resolution images that are sure to please any photographer. Perfect for large-scale printing, and extensive cropping, this sensor along with dual DIGIC 6 Image Processors allows you to take spectacularly detailed images that can be used for almost any purpose imaginable – without compromising on speed or performance.
Sophisticated Autofocus
The EOS 5DS enjoys a 61-point high density reticular autofocus system that includes up to 41 cross-type autofocus points. This makes the autofocus system sensitive to any change you make in composition and it will respond quickly to any changes to ensure your pictures always stay sharp as a tack. The RGB+IR autofocus sensor that powers everything will also constantly monitor for any movement by the subject and synchronize the active autofocus points with the subject’s motion to maintain perfect focus.
Full HD 30fps Video Capture
You can do two things at once with the EOS 5DS by taking advantage of the option to capture full 1080p video at 30fps while capturing still images at the same time. Also included is the Time Lapse Movie function which will take still photographs at set intervals and then combine them into a full HD movie.
EOS Scene Detection
Included in the EOS 5DS is the iSA Intelligent Scene Analysis system. This system uses a 150,000-pixel resolution RGB+IR metering sensor that powers Canon’s Intelligent Tracking and Recognition system (iTR AF) that perfectly tracks subjects as they move through the frame. This system will keep your images both perfectly exposed and focused.
Anti-Flicker Feature
Fluorescent lighting can often be an issue when shooting with a fast shutter speed as it often results in an irregular exposure. The included anti-flicker function works to compensate for flickering from this type of lighting so that you can be sure to always get a consistent exposure and color balance while shooting at fast shutter speeds.
1.3x and 1.6x Crop Shooting
For added flexibility, the crop shooting feature can extend your shooting effect by 1.3x and 1.6x. It does this by taking advantage of the large 50.6 megapixel sensor and cropping its images without compromising on quality and resolution. These crop settings replicate shooting with APS-H(1.3x) and APS-C(1.6x) cameras, making them very effective at extending the range of a telephoto lens.
Advanced Mirror Control
Camera shake occurs in almost all SLR cameras and is caused by the flap of the camera’s mirror moving up and down. This effect can often causes image blur and is especially noticeable when attempting long exposure photography such as astrophotography. To solve this problem, the EOS 5DS includes an advanced mirror control mechanism that suppresses the impact of the mirror. Additionally, a time release lag setting has also been included that will add more protection by setting the shutter release time longer. It does this so that the camera does not start the exposure until after the camera mirror’s impact.
Intelligent Viewfinder II
The Intelligent Viewfinder II displays 100% field of view coverage, so you will be able to see exactly what the camera sees. It also displays setting information like shooting mode, white balance, and autofocus so you can modify all of these options and more without taking your eyes off the subject.
